A minor girl in Rein village under Kolaghat, Purba Medinipur, was allegedly raped by a youth from a neighbouring village. Family sources stated that the accused entered the house when the girl was alone, sexually assaulted her using a sharp weapon, and then inserted a broken spoon into her rectum.
The same sources said the accused had a romantic relationship with the survivor’s elder sister. The girl was admitted to Tamluk District Hospital in critical condition after the incident. According to the family, she sustained serious internal injuries. Her father lodged a complaint at Kolaghat police station and demanded strict action against the accused.
“He must be punished severely,” the father said, as per the family. Police have begun an investigation and are searching for the accused, who reportedly fled the spot after the assault. No arrest has been confirmed so far. The survivor’s condition is being monitored at the hospital.
